Re: SOS for doctors and medical volunteers

Okay.  Noted.  Could they use psychologists, too?

Hi Bob,
Just spoke to Peter. He said to tell you and Amy that he is ready to receive medical volunteers, doctors, nurses immediately. He said most of the doctors in PAP are part of a particular delegation. They are not free to go where they choose. There are so many children and adults in need of medical care. Please send the word out for medical assistance for Leogane. he said to request 200 Euro per volunteer for 2 weeks I guess that will amount to $300. Please spread the word. I will forward the application to Amy ASAP.
Thanks
Yoleine

Subject: Re: Portland, Oregon volunteers & Haiti

Thanks for asking, Kerry.  I am copying this to Volunteers for Peace here in Vermont and to the NEGES Foundation in New York, both small but effective organizations that are very active on the Haiti catastrophe.  Volunteers for Peace is organizing a work camp of volunteers to go down there as soon as conditions permit.

For suggestions on what to do and background, you might want to go to my new blog:  http://haitirenaissiance.blogspot.com/

We are doing stories on Portland, Oregon volunteers who want to go to Haiti, and what they might be able to do and how they might be able to help.  I am wondering if you have heard from any volunteers or groups in Portland who are asking how they can help in person in Haiti, as opposed to helping by donating or in other ways.  Thank you for your help!

I don't think comment I made was posted so will try again. I am so grateful for this blog and love the name "Haiti Renaissance." Am learning more and more how internet is an amazing communication tool. Friends in Haiti and Europe were able to hear LIVE my radio interview about Haiti on WDGR last week ! Now that you no longer live nearby, Bob, I am being called upon to share experiences and advocate for Haiti.
Please come and invite those interested to:
HAITI/VERMONT COMMUNITY MEETING

Dear Irina,
Your wonderful posting did come through - as you can see. I am pleased to see that you are very active in educating Vermont children and the adult community about Haiti. That opportunity for an education is one of the few positive things to come out of the catastrophe. I, too, am doing a lot of gigs in schools and other places. The reception and constructive interest has been terrific. The idea of institutional partnership - school to school, school to community, school to orphanage - is an excellent one and the direction that I am also try to take when people ask me, "What can we do to help?" I would love to come to the community meeting on the 9th but it is a bit of a trip and there is a lot to do at this end - about Haiti and just normal stuff. We would love to have you and Steve come visit! Kendal is a very interesting place. Let's set something up! Mary joins me in sending our love. - Bob
